The Mulberry Project’s summer 2018 concerts feature international musicians who specialize in the revival of rare Ottoman-Turkish and Balkan music. Most of the musicians featured in this concert performed actively with Haig Manoukian, the late Armenian-American oud master who was a fixture of the New York Middle Eastern music scene for several decades. Some of the repertoire was developed in collaboration with Haig over the years, and some includes new compositions
by the musicians featured here. Whether the compositions are new or old, the members of the Mulberry Project seek to breathe life into a timeless tradition, inspired by the compelling glimpses left behind by the master musicians of past generations.
