True Life Trio weaves sumptuous vocal harmonies and sultry rhythms from Eastern Europe, the Americas & beyond. This innovative trio explores the creative possibilities of cross-fertilization of different traditions with unlikely timbres connecting Bulgaria to the Bayou.

TLT’s improvisation-laced repertoire includes original songs and folk tunes from far-flung lands such as Macedonia, Louisiana, Albania, Ukraine, Poland, Italy and Georgia. Featuring the powerful vocal talents of three dynamic performers whose musical collaboration was forged in Kitka Women’s Vocal Ensemble, the trio delves deep into a vast array of folk music, massaging and expanding the boundaries of these traditional styles to create its own unique sound. 

Ghost Note Ensemble was founded in 2012 at Klezcalifornia's Yiddish Culture Festival. Since its inception, Ghost Note has sought to weave the musical threads of the Hungarian, Moldavian, Ukrainian, and Jewish folk traditions into a tuneful time-traveled tapestry, a requiem for borders of future past. A Ghost Note concert is then much like a musical tour through the times and places of our lost worlds, with the ghosts of song coming alive to dance and sing, in the fullest joy and sorrow, once again. Ghost Note Ensemble features Travis Hendrix on bass, Jack Hanley on mandolin, furulya, and poyk, Mattias Kaufmann on button accordion, and Joshua Laurenzi on fidl and furulya.
