THE PARTY:
Not only was Kafana Balkan the first ongoing Balkan dance party in San Francisco, it's also the Bay Area’s biggest Balkan music party masterminded by DJ Željko Petković. Željko hails from the Balkans, Serbia by way of Frankfurt and now resides in San Francisco. We here in San Francisco have the great benefit of enjoying his discriminating taste and seemingly endless collection of Balkan music. DJ Željko clearly loves what he does and he is a crowd pleaser, concocting a genuine brew of highly danceable Balkan Brass. Željko lovingly promotes Balkan music and culture by producing Kafana Balkan roughly four times a year. KB event has won "The Best of" both Bay Guardian and SF Weekly weekly newspapers.
There will be Rakija -delectible Serbian plum brandy. Warning: :drink at your own risk:!
Gino from Spirollsf will be serving Delicious Burek (Balkan Filo Dough Pastries ) ...mmmmmmm Opa!
